FLORIDA — August is bringing a fresh wave of new restaurants, cafés and businesses to communities across the Sunshine State. From the Panhandle and Northeast Florida to Central Florida, the Space Coast, Tampa Bay and South Florida, new concepts are preparing to welcome customers as summer winds down.

 

Here’s a look at some of the new businesses expected to open across Florida in August 2026.


PANHANDLE & NORTHWEST FLORIDA

 

Ralphie’s Fish Camp Coming to Port St. Joe

Ralphie’s Fish Camp is targeting an August opening at 470 Marina Drive in Port St. Joe, bringing a new family-friendly waterfront seafood restaurant to the city marina. Plans call for indoor dining, an oyster bar, a marina-facing bar, an outdoor deck with live music and fresh seafood available for purchase. The restaurant also plans a “Your Catch, Our Table” option allowing anglers to have their own fresh catch prepared by the kitchen.

 

Donatos Pizza Coming to Panama City

Donatos Pizza is targeting an opening around August 1 at 840 W. 23rd Street in Panama City. The new restaurant will emphasize carryout, delivery and quick service, with a pickup window and limited indoor seating. The Panama City restaurant is expected to be among the Ohio-based pizza brand’s first Florida locations.


NORTHEAST FLORIDA

 

Southern Smokehouse Preparing to Open in Jacksonville

Southern Smokehouse is targeting an early- to mid-August opening at 12741 Yellow Bluff Road in Jacksonville. The new barbecue restaurant from South Atlantic Hospitality is planned as a Southern lodge-style concept with a full liquor bar and seating for approximately 120 guests.


CENTRAL FLORIDA

 

Brooksville Bagels Targets August Opening

Brooksville Bagels is targeting an August opening at 330 Ponce De Leon Boulevard in Brooksville. The locally owned shop has been in development for more than two years and plans to bring New York-inspired, preservative-free bagels to the community.

 

La Pinata Bringing New Mexican Dining Concept to Lakeland

La Pinata is targeting a mid-August opening at 850 S. Tennessee Avenue in Lakeland. The concept combines a full-service restaurant with a market-style experience and plans for an outdoor mercado area where visitors can shop, enjoy coffee or wine, or pick up prepared food.


SPACE COAST

 

Pepe’s Cantina Coming to Melbourne

Pepe’s Cantina is targeting the first week of August for its opening at 7700 N. Wickham Road in Melbourne. The full-service Mexican restaurant will occupy the former Mi Jalisco space and is expected to seat about 150 guests. Plans include cocktails, music and a relaxed, plant-filled atmosphere, along with a menu that will introduce new dishes periodically.


TAMPA BAY & GULF COAST

 

Two Daughters Bagels Coming to Largo

Two Daughters Bagels is targeting an August opening at 10593 Ulmerton Road in Largo. The shop plans to make New York-style bagels by hand each day using cold fermentation and a water system designed to recreate the mineral characteristics of New York City water. Coffee, espresso, matcha and tea will also be part of the menu.

 

Melt Plans August Grand Opening in Sarasota

Locally owned Melt is planning an August 15 grand opening at 8420 N. Lockwood Ridge Road in Sarasota, following its planned soft opening. The fast-casual restaurant focuses on made-to-order smash burgers, fries and shakes and includes design elements inspired by Sarasota.

 

Costa Vida Targets Late-August Florida Debut

Costa Vida is targeting a late-August opening at 33505 U.S. Highway 19 N. in Palm Harbor, with early September listed as a possible backup timeframe. The location is expected to be the fast-casual Mexican restaurant brand’s first in Florida.


SOUTH FLORIDA

 

Neo Coffee and Kava Coming to Plantation

Neo Coffee and Kava is targeting the first week of August at 1483 S. University Drive in Plantation. The new concept combines an upscale coffee program with kava, alcohol-free cocktails, health-oriented food and a lounge-style social space.

 

Tropical Smoothie Cafe Expanding in Doral

A new Tropical Smoothie Cafe is targeting an August opening at 8173 NW 107th Avenue in Doral. The approximately 1,200-square-foot café will offer the brand’s smoothies, wraps, flatbreads and other quick-service menu items. The location will be operated by franchise owners who also operate a Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Hialeah.
