Nature of Work

The purpose of the class is to supervise staff and oversee the City’s water, wastewater and stormwater operations, fleet services, cleaning, maintenance of public buildings (facilities), streets, solid waste, and other special projects.  The class is responsible for supervising staff, establishing long-range plans, developing policy and procedures, managing operational activities, preparing budgets, evaluating, documenting, and reporting on programs and activities to senior management and elected or appointed officials.   The class researches and formulates long range goals for the organization; develops internal and external policy and position papers, provides contract administration and oversight, oversees hiring interview process and participates in selection of consultants based on qualifications.
